Part-Time Administrative and Development Assistant

North East Seattle Together (NEST) is seeking a part-time administrative and development assistant. The position is expected to work approximately 5-10 hours per week, with some flexing required during weeks surrounding larger events or campaigns (3-4 times per year).

North East Seattle Together is a ‘virtual village’ – a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization that serves as the backbone for older adults in the NE Seattle area, acting as a hub for volunteer-driven activities, classes, educational events, physical fitness, and specific direct 1:1 supports for older adults as they need assistance to be able to remain in their own homes. We provide a bridge for our neighbors, both members of NEST as well as the broader community. Our vision: To build and sustain a northeast Seattle community where neighbors engage with and support one another through the transitions of aging.

NEST regularly hosts activities and events (currently mostly online through the pandemic) that require some online marketing, registrations, donations and payment processing, as well as regular physical mailers to our community. The position involves data entry into SalesForce, mail merge and printing of mailers, support for member engagement and member and sponsor renewals (phone calls and letters), phone calls to businesses and community members, and back-up office support (phones, Zoom) when the Director of Operations is out of the office.

Required Qualifications
At least 2 years of office management and/or fund development experience, with demonstrated examples as a self-starter, with a keen eye for attention to detail.

Customer service background or experience and demonstrated high-performer in area of customer support, patience and ability to work effectively with people with diverse needs.

Ability to work from home (home office support including a computer that can work with our file-sharing system, internet access and a telephone).

Demonstrated experience with event logistics and mail merge/production of bulk mailers.

Demonstrated experience with data entry, and use of common office software products such as Microsoft Office. Comfortable learning new software programs.

Strong writer, proofreader, editor.

Desired Qualifications
At least 2 years experience with fundraising database platforms such as SalesForce; demonstrated experience working with email list software programs; experience with WordPress. Experience working with older adults and for a nonprofit organization a plus.

More About the Job: This part-time associate position would work some remotely and some in our office located in the Wedgwood neighborhood. Time in the office can be arranged so that no one else is present to ensure social-distancing (we are a small staff). Hours are generally very flexible though some work must be done during standard business hours. Once the office re-opens for the public, work will be mostly on-site (but some work can be completed from home).

This is not an entry level position but does allow for significant opportunity for growth, including participating in events, planning, and other nonprofit organization activities, a great way to develop your skills and expertise if you have interest in fund development and/or events and program implementation. This position will also have a unique window into the work of a nonprofit senior village, an evolving national model that helps support older adults to go through life’s transitions with a support system, and to stay in their own homes as long as possible.

More About our Team: This position would interface with the two staff at NEST, the Director of Development and the Director of Operations, plus with volunteers, members and the general public. Our team enjoys having fun together and supporting our community, and looks forward to adding a positive, dedicated, hardworking professional to our team to support programs, events, and fund development.

Salary: $22/hour. Position does not include benefits.
Application Process: Please send to info@nestseattle.org a short (1 page or less) cover letter, resume, and 2-3 recent references who have knowledge of your skills as required for this position.
