Age-Friendly Seattle

Age-Friendly Seattle will make improvements in eight areas defined by the WHO-The 8 Domains of Livability that influence health and quality of life for older adults.

GOLD Card

The Gold Card program provides discounts for senior citizens and adults with disabilities in Seattle. GOLD Cards are available at the NEST Office, free of charge.

Greenwood Senior Center

The Greenwood Senior Center is an inclusive community that provides social, physical, and educational activities focused around the needs of older adults. Services offered include support groups, counseling, and memory loss programs.

HomeWise

Since 1980, the HomeWise program has offered weatherization services to income-eligible households, helping thousands to decrease their energy bills and increase their comfort and safety. Services are provided through federal, state and local utility funding. All weatherization work is contracted and managed by the HomeWise Program and is FREE of charge for eligible households.

Hunger Intervention Program

The Hunger Intervention Program’s Senior Community Meal provides a weekly low-cost, nutritious and delicious meal for seniors 60 and over. It is also an opportunity to build community and to learn new things. Sound Generations provides activities for seniors before and after the lunch including senior fitness programs, art classes, conversation cafés, community presenters, book clubs and more. This meal is open to the community every Monday and Wednesday from 12-1pm at Lake City Community Center (12531 28th Ave NE, Seattle, WA 98125). Suggested donation is $3 for seniors 60 and over and $6 for anyone under 60.

Lifetime Learning Center

Non-profit in North Seattle proving quality cultural, educational, physical, and social activities for older adults with inquisitive minds.

Neighbor Brigade

The Neighbor Brigade provides short-term volunteer assistance to individuals of all ages who are experiencing a temporary crisis due to an illness, surgery, accident, or other life event. Some of the services volunteers have provided in the past include meal delivery, dog walks, rides to doctor’s appointments, help with errands, friendly visits, and light household needs.

Northwest Center for Creative Aging

Northwest Center for Creative Aging (NWCCA) advocates for the creativity, vitality, and wholeness inherent in all of us. As we age, we discover new capacities and new interests. We seek activities that expand our minds, strengthen our bodies, and open our hearts. We recognize the necessity of interdependence, humor, generosity, and gratitude to bolster us during challenging times.

Located west of I-5, serving seniors in the neighborhoods of Phinney Ridge, Greenwood, Ballard, Broadview, and Bitter Lake.

Wallingford Senior Center

This senior center located in Wallingford is a hub for community members to connect, collaborate, and engage together. From bonds built in art class, to card players connecting beyond the games, to the exercise class keeping members fit and fabulous; their programs and services act as a bridge to keep people connected.

AgePRIDE

AgePRIDE (Promoting Resilience for Intergenerational Diversity and Empowerment) programs serve LGBTQ+ older adults, care partners, and families, across underserved communities. AgePRIDE provides resources, referrals and support to older adults and their families and circles of care for a range of services from housing support to dementia care.

AgeWise King County

Monthly newsletter covering topics on aging.

Area Agency on Aging for Seattle and King County (Aging and Disability Services)

ADS provides information on the latest research around aging, as well as information on programs and events within King County.

Community Living Connections

A network that helps adults facing aging and disability issues get the information and support they need to make informed decisions. Community Living Connections provides anyone who calls a caring, highly-trained specialist who will give them easy access to information, individual consultation, and service options. Staff can also help you determine if you’re eligible for programs, services, and public benefits.

Eastside Friends of Seniors

A volunteer organization serving individuals age 60 and older in Sammamish and Issaquah.

Eastside Neighbors Network

A virtual village serving residents of Bellevue.

Hyde Shuttle

The Hyde Shuttle program provides door-to-door van service for older adults and adults with disabilities throughout many communities in King County. Our friendly, specially-trained drivers transport riders to hot meal programs, medical appointments, senior centers, grocery stores and other local destinations.

Northwest Neighbors Network

Village serving Shoreline, Lake Forest Park, Edmonds, Woodway, Esperance, Mountlake Terrace, Lynnwood, and Brier.

King County Caregiver Support Network

The King County Caregiver Support Network helps unpaid caregivers of adults age 18 and older. By helping to reduce caregiver stress, the network enables care receivers to remain at home and independent. The King County Caregiver Network comprises service providers who receive funding from the Area Agency on Aging for Seattle-King County to provide community-based support.

King County Seniors Online

Provides helpful links and information about discounts, offers, and happenings for seniors in the Seattle area.

Reduced Regional Fare Permit

Individuals age 65+ can receive reduced fare passes for King County Metro and other public transit agencies in the Puget Sound area.

Sound Generations (formerly Senior Services of King County)

Provides King County seniors with information about wellness, nutrition, home repair, senior center activities, day health centers, and home-sharing and services for caregivers and families.

Honoring Choices Pacific Northwest

Honoring Choices Pacific Northwest is a joint initiative between the Washington State Hospital Association and Washington State Medical Association Foundation for Health Care Improvement. They inspire conversations about the care people want at the end of life. This comprehensive initiative uses a variety of approaches, such as an advance care planning program, community engagement, physician education, advocacy, and a central repository.

Office of the Insurance Commissioner: Medicare in Washington State

The Washington state Office of the Insurance Commissioner protects insurance consumers and oversees the insurance industry. They make sure insurance companies follow the rules and people get the coverage they’ve paid for. Each year, they answer questions and investigate problems for nearly 100,000 people. Additionally, the OIC maintains a statewide network of volunteers who advise consumers on health-coverage issues, including Medicare.

A comprehensive network of senior care providers in Washington State.

Washington Continuing Care Residents Association (WACCRA)

WACCRA is a coalition of Continuing Care Retirement Community (CCRC) residents working to ensure that regulatory and legislative officials at both state and federal levels are aware of the protections needed for CCRC residents. WACCRA also provides a venue for sharing best practices, lessons learned, and comparative services and costs for persons in CCRCs.

Alzheimer's Caregivers Network
The Alzheimer’s Caregivers Network is an independent not-for-profit 501(c)(3) organization that works to positively impact the lives of those caring for people with Alzheimer’s disease.

CDC's Older Adult Fall Prevention
Falls are a threat to the health of older adults and can reduce their ability to remain independent. However, falls don’t have to be inevitable as you age. You can reduce your chance of falling or help a loved one prevent falls. There are proven ways to reduce and prevent falls, even for older adults. The Center for Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) identifies older adults as anyone 65 years and older. The CDC uses data and research to help prevent falls and save lives.
