NESTcafé: Healing through Qigong*
September 16 @ 2:00 pm - 3:30 pm
Join Erin Doty as she shares an introduction to Qigong, a healing art and gentle, health enhancing movement practice. The presentation includes demonstration time, so come join us and feel the Qi! According to the National Qigong Association (NQA), the slow movements in qigong warm tendons, ligaments, muscles, and tonify vital organs and connective tissue, while promoting circulation of body fluids. Beyond and within the physical body, Qigong works with subtle energy pathways in the body, known in the Chinese system as meridians. Improving physical, emotional, and spiritual wellbeing including healing from chronic illnesses are among the reasons people learn and practice qigong.
Erin is a Key West, FL native who grew up overseas, has family roots in the midwest, and now resides in Shoreline, WA. She received training in Qigong and Qigong Healing in Boulder, CO, and is a Certified Personal Trainer – Restorative Exercise Specialist. Outside of her NEST volunteer teaching, she supports individuals with energy healing and movement coaching; together as a team they address clients’ physical, emotional, and spiritual healing, and habit-change pursuits. She teaches foundation Qigong and Restorative Exercise classes at Ballard Neighborhood Doctors’ Ram and Bee Wellness Center in Ballard. She is also an apprentice of animal training and behavior and loves helping pet owners learn to better communicate with their loved ones.
