THIS GROUP IS CURRENTLY FULL. Rebecca Crichton, Executive Director of Northwest Center for Creative Aging, welcomes NEST members to the first Discussing the
Undiscussables group. This will be a closed group inviting members to create deeper connections with each other to explore the many
topics we find it hard to talk about with others. Rebecca will share information and techniques that can support and connect us as we
age.

In our first session we will choose the order in which we want to explore the ‘Big D’s’ that challenge us as we age: The list includes Dependency, Disability, Dementia, Depression, Death and Dying and others. The intention is to provide a safe place to listen and connect. The more we are open to hearing each other clearly, the deeper our sense of trust and connection. The group will be limited in size and meet monthly with encouragement to connect with each other between meetings.

Join NEST for a peaceful and creative hour of
rock painting. We will provide the rocks, paints,
and soothing music, all you need to bring is your
imagination. Paint a calming mandala, a playful
strawberry, a favorite animal, or anything that
inspires you. The possibilities are endless. We’ll
be using water-based acrylic paints, so wear
something you don’t mind getting a little colorful.
When you are done, take your creation home for
your garden or gift it to someone special. Come
relax, unwind, and let your creativity flow. If this
session fills up and there’s enough interest, we may
offer it again in July — so don’t miss your chance to

NEST is pleased to offer a Contemplative Aging Book Club that will meet for four sessions over two months. Together, we’ll explore the shifts in identity that often accompany the aging process. Using the book “From Age-ing to Sage-ing” from Zalman M. Schachter-Shalomi as our foundation, we’ll engage in open, reflective discussions on topics such as intergenerational relationships, transitioning into retirement, stepping into elderhood, and uncovering a renewed sense of purpose.

This will be primarily a discussion-based group, guided by prompts from the book, and will incorporate mindfulness and gentle somatic practices to support deeper reflection and connection.

Facilitated by Jonathan Weiner, MSW student intern.
