THIS GROUP IS CURRENTLY FULL. Rebecca Crichton, Executive Director of Northwest Center for Creative Aging, welcomes NEST members to the first Discussing the
Undiscussables group. This will be a closed group inviting members to create deeper connections with each other to explore the many
topics we find it hard to talk about with others. Rebecca will share information and techniques that can support and connect us as we
age.
In our first session we will choose the order in which we want to explore the ‘Big D’s’ that challenge us as we age: The list includes Dependency, Disability, Dementia, Depression, Death and Dying and others. The intention is to provide a safe place to listen and connect. The more we are open to hearing each other clearly, the deeper our sense of trust and connection. The group will be limited in size and meet monthly with encouragement to connect with each other between meetings.

April is volunteer appreciation month, and NEST wouldn‘t be NEST without our amazing volunteers! Help us celebrate and honor our incredible network of people who support our members through the transitions of aging. There will be snacks and drinks, and DESSERTS!
We will be holding a bake sale to support our Volunteer Program so please be sure to bring cash or check.
Quiet the mind. Experience a grounded and centered state using focused intent, breath, and body postures. Deeply relax and practice self-healing meditations in still (internal) and moving (external) forms.
Virtual class materials include: floor space, armless chair, stool, comfy place to sit, stand, or lie down for relaxation forms.
This group is currently full. Men‘s Group 2 is a way to connect with fellow members to discuss areas of interest, current events, etc.. The men‘s group meets on the first and third Thursday of the month.

Dr. Hope Wechkin, Medical Director for EvergreenHealth Home Health & Hospice, will provide an overview of the options individuals have when they have serious illness and are facing a diminishing quality of life: everything from discontinuing life-prolonging therapies like dialysis and cardiac devices, to declining interventions like antibiotics for recurrent infections, to actively hastening death through measures like medical aid in dying (aka Death with Dignity) and Voluntary Stopping Eating and Drinking (VSED). Dr. Wechkin will discuss where each are located along the spectrums of “standard of care,” institutional support, and ethical complexity. This should be an informative and thought-provoking presentation.
Come join us for some FUN movement and enjoy the afternoon together playing fun, easy, low impact games of pickleball. Participant numbers are limited for safety. Rounds of games are played so everyone has an opportunity to participate.
Volunteer Julia Devin leads this online group. Come enjoy a great space to connect with other members who are goin the joys and challenges of aging.
